Overview

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Senior Business Development Officer plays a pivotal role in driving the Bank’s development finance mandate by identifying, evaluating, and advancing business opportunities within the assigned zone. The role ensures effective implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies for financing development projects and activities while safeguarding credit quality and compliance with the Bank’s objectives.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To monitor the implementation of policies, procedures, decisions and strategies for financing development projects and activities in respective zone
  • To provide technical support to developmental activities and clients financed by the Bank
  • To participate in monitoring and evaluating on-going and completed projects in respective zone
  • To seek and evaluate business opportunities in respective zone
  • To monitor the implementation of credit and related policies, processes and procedures
  • To ensure applications for loan/credit are reviewed and approved accordingly
  • To control overdrafts relating to projects and development activities in respective zone
  • To ensure that information on development financing is adequately made available in respective zone
  • To develop and implement work plans for the zone
  • To develop and maintain beneficial business relationships with corporate and clients
  • To maintain good working relationships with other divisions, departments and units as well as external stakeholders
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Accounts, Banking and Finance or equivalent qualification from recognized institutions with working experience of at least seven (7) years in related field.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to identify business areas where the bank can be more effective and propose plans to implement these changes.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in interpreting financial information/statements.
  • Ability to evaluate credit application proposals.
  • Industry knowledge: Candid knowledge of products in the industry and the business opportunities that underlie these areas.
  • Sales Skills
